• The Internet has turned upside down our existence. To the extent that it is now our preferred medium of everyday communication, it has revolutionized communication. We use the Internet for almost everything we do. To order a pizza, to buy a TV, to share a moment with a friend, to send an image via instant messaging. Before the Internet, you had to catch up with the news if you wanted to keep up with it.
• The lines of separation between the digital and physical worlds will continue to blur, altering economies around the world but also raising a host of security and privacy concerns.
• It is possible to link virtually any entity to the Internet, and our digital and physical worlds will gradually converge. This convergence is based on the Internet of Things (IoT), and (IoT) is not a single technology. It is a collection of applications and capabilities, services and infrastructure that provide the necessary intelligence to render useful connected artefacts.
• Artificial intelligence developments creates avenue for interacting via voice or gesture with connected objects, and IoT-generated data will power virtual and augmented reality. Increased bandwidth and sensor technologies, as well as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), we are approaching a state of convergence where the lines between the digital and the physical blur. But for all of this to happen, we will need ubiquitous, reliable and secure connectivity around the globe.
• We are entering a new phase of technological evolution, a phase where the Internet will be fully integrated into every part of our lives – how we learn, how we work, how we shop, how we get around.

This had made employers to employ individual with a prerequisite skills to help them stand out among other businesses. • Digital skills involve the knowledge and ability to determine information needs from digital technology sources, and to appropriately use digital tools and facilities to input, access, organize, integrate and assess digital resources as well as to construct new knowledge, create media expressions and communicate with others. Digital skills include both technical skills associated with understanding and using digital systems, tools, and applications, as well as information processing skills, which are the cognitive underpinnings of digital proficiency. In addition, they involve thinking and the responsible use of the data obtained through the use of technology.

• Technology companies and IT organizations are still hiring, but are relying on new technologies to screen and hire talent – with an added emphasis on soft skills.
• The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed how companies do business almost overnight, forcing a shift at most organizations to across-all-ranks remote and virtual work. But what hasn’t changed as substantially is the need to attract, recruit and hire top IT talent.
• The pandemic’s full impact on IT hiring remains to be seen, but unemployment for IT occupations remains low, at 2.4% in March 2020, and many companies continue to hire despite shutdown offices, as IT leaders tweak their hiring processes to overcome issues brought about by this unprecedented situation.
• Jonathan Essuman, CEO and Founder of ACCOUNT IT GH, is one such IT leader rethinking hiring in the COVID-19 era. He’s still hiring IT support roles for critical customers, in addition to sales roles.

• The whole world is in Corona crisis but IT people are working from home. All banking systems continue to function. the stock trading systems continue as it is. all hospitals are functioning because of websites and software. ATM software works 24 hours a day to keep it running smoothly. 24×7 hours of monitoring to keep all websites running. Internet, phone services are running because software that IT people manage. there are millions of mobile apps that you use everyday because of IT.
• You get uninterrupted updates on all the news channels because of the news software. All entertainment channels are functional because of software… Facebook. WhatsApp etc. Social media is functioning efficiently today because of IT people.
• Your kids are learning online because of IT. Despite the factories are closed, its software are updated and improvised as a part of maintenance by IT people.
• Pharmaceutical and research software is made by IT people. All lab test reports are made by software. The software that manages the power grid are maintained by IT. There is nothing in the world today that does not require computers and software.
• IT people are working from home so as to ensure everything continues to run smoothly.
• Salute to life saving doctors, nurses, police, cleaners, millions of subsistence farmers, ……
• —And the IT guys working behind the scenes
